Obituary

Montell Virginia (Tomlin) Ashwood, 103, of Inwood, went to be with her Lord Friday, October 22, 2010, while at her home.

Born October 4, 1907 in Clarke County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Tomlin and Sarah Malinda (Oates) Tomlin.

She was an inspector for Corning Glass Works.

Mrs. Ashwood was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Martinsburg, Corning Retirees' Club, and the Citizens' Fire Co. Auxiliary of Charles Town. She liked sewing and cooking. She loved to crochet and had made some of the most beautiful, prize-winning afghans.

She is survived by her extended family, Delores "Susie" and Donald Jenkins; many best friends, including Dottie Stine, Dorothea Andrews, Tina Fellers, Anne Doxee, and Dr. Vikram Dayal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Ashwood; three brothers: Willard, Charles Harris, and Harvey Marshall Tomlin, and one sister, Edith Costello.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Parker Hinzman officiating. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville, VA.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, at the Chapel.
