WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Waldo E. Stickel, 82, of Swan Road, died Friday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. 

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. There are no public calling hours.  Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.

Born April 6, 1929, in Bunker Hill, West Virginia, son of Harold L. and Grace Tharp Stickell, he attended Bunker Hill schools. 

He entered the Air Force in 1947 and served in the Berlin Air Lift, Morocco, Germany, Armstrong Air Force Base, Canada, and Dry Hill Air Force Base retiring as Chief Master Sargent in 1977.

He married Frances I. Eldred on May 11, 1957, in Winchester, Va. The couple lived in Virginia, Germany and later moved to Watertown.

Mr. Stickel is survived by his wife, Frances; a son and daughter in law, Waldo L. and Diane, Winchester, Va.; four daughters and sons in law, Winifred A. and Christopher Sharrow, Glen Park; Phyllis M. and Thomas Conley, Adams; Sandra L. and Timmy Gagnon, Brownville; Kimberly S. and Michael Morley, Merritt Island, Fla.; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren,one brother, Earl Stickell, Bunker Hill, West Virginia; four sisters, Madeline Chalwic, Maryland; Marie Bayne, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Joyce Bishop, Cocoa, Fla.; June Symonds, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

He loved hunting, fishing, Wii bowling and making homemade wine, card playing and traveling.
