Comments: Age 38 - The 1840 Census shows a "Simon Stickles" living in Clark County, VA. Living in the household are 1 boy under the age of 5, one man between the ages of 30-39, one girl under the age of 5. One woman between the ages of 20-29. The were not handicapped individual, no slaves and the census indicates that the adults could read and write.

Age 42 - The 1850 Census - 12th District, Clarke Co, VA, pg ?, Dwelling #198, Family #198, dtd 07-26-1850. - Simon is still living in Clark Co. and Simon is 48 and his wife Amelia is 42. Simon is working as a farmer and his property is valued at $330. The children living in the home are as follows: Sarah J. (12 yrs), Henry C. (11 yrs - male), Simon P. (9 yrs - male), Meli E. (7 yrs - femaile), Thomas M. (age 4 - male), Mary S. (age 2 - female) and Jonathan (1 mo. - male). All 9 members of his family were born in Virginia. Sarah and Henry attended school within the last year.

In the 1850 Census of Clarke Co, Virginia > Clarke > District 12 > 28 , there is a Nancy Bolen enumerated in Henry's household, aged 70, born VA. I assume this is Elizabeth's mother. Directly below her is a Robert Ashby who surely is related to the Amelia Ashby above [Vern Wilson]

Note: Seven lines previous to the above entry is listed a Jane Stickel (aged 50), born in Virginia, living in the Furr household with some Lanhams and Smallwoods. I wonder who this Jane might be? [Vernon Wilson]
