Age 21 - The 1850 Census shows Nicholas and Martha living in Barbour Co., West Virginia.

[According to Vernon Wilson, Nicolas and Martha moved to Iowa because of their interest in the abolition of slavery]

Age 31 - The 1860 Census shows Nicholas and Martha living in Squaw Twp., Warren Co., Iowa.

Age 41 - The 1870 Census shows the couple living in Liberty Twp. Clarke County, Iowa.

Age 51 - The 1880 Census shows them living in Squaw, Warren County, Iowa Age 71 - The 1900 Census, Nicholas and Martha state they had 9 children with six still alive
