ROBERT EDWARD DUKE (1913-1984)
The following obit for Robert appeared in the March 3, 1984 Winchester Star:
Robert "Bob" Duke, 71, of 17 Fairfax St. Berryville, died Friday in Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mr. Duke was born Feb. 2, 1913 in Ohio, the son of John I Duke and Esther V Duke Crim. He was retired from L&J Cleaners in Berryville. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church. He was married to Louise G Duke.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Bobby E Duke of Bluemont; two daughters, Connie D Mason of Berryville and Dorothy D Oliver of Front Royal; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd N Crim of Berryville, and H. Ben Crim and Bobby L Crim of Winchester; and three sisters, Estelle D McFillen and Lois Mae D Levi of Berryville, and Annabelle C Price of Winchester.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 PM at Enders Funeral Home in Berryville, Va., the Rev. Thomas J Holden III and the Rev. Daniel L Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Lloyd, Ben Settle, Peter Levi, Oscar Kave, Walter Rutherford Jr. and Owen Pearson. The family will receive friends at its home at 17 Fairfax St. in Berryville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancel Society or the John H Enders Rescue Squad.
