SUTHERLAND - Edwin Van V. Age 83, Brigadler General, U.S. Army retired, on January 6, 1997, of cancer, in Rochester, Husband of the late Eleanor Austin and survived by his son Alec Sutherland; daughter Janet Guldbeck; and grandchildren Alexander and Eleanore Guldback. Memorial services in Amagansett and West Point to follow in June.
