The following obit for Louis appeared in the February 16, 1967 Courier:

Louis Edward McDonald, 84, of Route 2, Berryville, died Friday in the Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mr. McDonald was born February 16, 1882 in Clarke County, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Cennan McDonald.

Surviving are his widow, Katherine Broy McDonald; three children, John L McDonald, Mrs. Marion E Foltz and Mrs. Hilda Pitta, all of Berryville; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Willingham of Winchester, Mrs. Nan Willingham of Charles Town, W. VA.; and Mrs. Virginia Corvin of McLean; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great -great grandchild.

A funeral service was conducted Sunday at 2 PM at the John H. Enders Funeral Home, by the Rev. Robert C Moore. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert Nicodemus, Jr., Roy Leake, Edward Fenton, David Allen, Jr., Charles Crim, and George Chapman, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. James R York, Dr. John W Emerick, Durward Smallwood, A.M. Bell, Marvin Painter, Kenneth Shenk and John Fenton.
