Ashby Family Line
|
Descendents of Captain Thomas Ashby, Sr. are detailed in the
Ashby Genealogy Report.
The Ashby's are a prominent family in the Winchester, Virginia area. There is a town
named after Captain Thomas Ashby, Sr called "Ashby's Gap".
The Ashby's in the USA began as early Virginia colonists and their
line intersects with the Stickel(s)/Stickle(s) of the Winchester area who also originated
in the same area of Virginia.

According to Jean K. Carpenter and her website
"One Million Stories"
the Ashby line is descendend from William De Ashby of England during the 1600's. The line actually begins with
William De Ashby and from William the line of English nobles continues for 12 generations to George Ashby, Jr.
who built the famous home "Quenby Hall".
Tracy Tomblin Propst's Rootsweb site has also traced the Ashby line and her research also connects other
Stickel(s) relatives to the Ashby line.

Brewster Family Line
|
Descendents of William Brewster the First (I) are detailed in the
Brewster Genealogy Report.
William Brewster the Third (III) was one of the organizing members of the Mayflower expedition
to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts, USA in 1620.
There is probably over 500 thousand descendents of William Brewster,
but this report lists only a fraction of these descendents, mostly the ones between William
and their intersection with the Mosely line.

Sam Stickels (Mark's son) is a descendent of the Mosely line and this line
intersects with the Brewster line thus providing a connection to the Mayflower Expedition.
According to the
Mayflower History Website there are two famous decendents of William Brewster and these
include Bing Crosby and President Taylor.

Broy Line
|
Descendents of Addison Broy are detailed in the
Broy Genealogy Report.
Addisonn Broy and his father William Broy were born in early colonial Virginia. Their
Euopean roots are not yet known. The research of this line was provided by James Lock

This line began in the hills of early Virginia and intersects with
the Stickle(s)/Stickel(s) of the Winchester, Virginia area. Thus far, we have found two
intersections with the Stickel(s) line.

Castree Line
|
Descendents of Richard Castree are detailed in the
Castree Genealogy Report.
Richard Castree Richard was born and raised in Ireland and
was married to Margaret Stonay Buchanan. Richard and his wife came to the USA
when their first child was just a baby in the early 1800's

Mark's grandfather on his mother's side was John F. Castree and after
posting his genealogical information on the web, Alex Sutherland noticed the posting and
provided his reasearch into the Castree Line.

Finger/Vinger Family Line
|
Descendents of John Vinger are detailed in the
Finger/Vinger Genealogy Report.
(John) Johannes Vinger arrived in Germantown, New York from Germany in 1710 and many of his
descendants still live in the Hudson Valley area. John's family intersects with the Castree Line
(Mark's mother's maiden name is Castree).

Stickel(s)/Stickle(s) Family Line
|
The Descendents of George Stickle are detailed in the
Stickel(s)/Stickle(s) Genealogy Report.
According to Census records George Stickle lived in the Winchester, Virginia area during the
late 1700's and it appears that he had three sons.
David Stickels of San Diego, California has been researching
this line of Stickels for many years now and has still not yet located the European origins of this family or the
exact relationship between George and his three sons. However, from these three sons we have uncovered
many descendents.

The Stickle descendents changed the spelling of their last name to many different
variations including Stickel, Stickels, Stickell, Stickle, Stickels and others. But they all seem to
have come from these three brothers (or cousins) from Virginia.
