About Julia and immigration
Arrived with her 5 children on April 6, 1907 in Baltimore on the SS Wittekind, which sailed out of Bremen,Germany. Previous residence is listed as "AUT:MAE" for "Austria-Moravia" (Maehren). Source for abbreviations: Austrian Genealogy Page. Note: Surname indexed as "KRUSCHKA."On manifest, last town or city resided in is listed as what appears to be "SWIADNO." No town found with that name it is assumed that this represents "SWIADNOW" which accoring to the Ausgewiesene aus dem DeutschenReich 1910, was indeed a town in Mähren at that time. Listing found at http://home.foni.net/~herumstreifer/ausweis10.htm. Alternate spelling: SVIADNOV. This town lies in what isreferred to as the Sudetenland. The following link to the town is only offered in Czech: http://www.sviadnov.cz/

"David Bean [Grandson] remembers his Grandmother (Julia) visiting and that she was very stern and strict. She could visit because she had a lifetime pass on the railroad/train as her husband (Charles) invented some kind of coupling thing that saved lots of money for the railroad. She always wore a long black wool coat and a fancy dress—navy with white polkadots and a man’s straw boater hat."
