Ezra Clifton Deavers, 87, of Berryville, died Monday, May 18, 1998, in a local nursing home. Mr. Deavers was born April 6, 1911, in Page County, the son of Albert Lee and Minnie Viola Johnson Deavers. He worked for H.F. Byrd Inc for 47 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Velma Broy on Aug. 10, 1942 in Berryville. Mrs. Deavers died May 3, 1992.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol Clipp and Betty Lackman, both of Berryville, and Sharon Nesselrodt of Winchester; a son, Richard Deavers of Berryville; two sisters, Sadie Soos of Bristol, Ind. and Carrie Kuhn of Cleveland; a brother Willie Deavers of Luray; seven grand children; and three great great grandchildren. A daughter, Barbara Deavers is deceased.

A graveside service will be at 11 AM Thursday in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, with the Rev. Thomas T Briggs officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Clarke County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Adam Deavers, Daniel Clipp Jr., Dennie W Fuller Jr., George Ware, William F Lackman III and Brad Frazier.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in Enders and Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville. Memorials may be made to John H Enders Fire and Rescue Company, 9 S Buckmarsh St., Berryville 22611.
