Age ? - Various Newspapers - Charles H. Lucas, his wife, and others sought to defraud two insurance companies by faking his death by drowning. The total amount of the insurance was $19,000. The perpetraitors got caught. The story appeared in approximately 30 newspapers across the nation in Jan & Feb 1881. Chas H Lucas son of JS Lucas of Baltimore drowned in Ind at the age of 21. Kind of weird. Probably a different Chas H Lucas even though the father has the same initials (JS). The article says that JS Lucas the father, lived at 272 Light St. The 1881 BCD says that his name was Jos. S. Lucas and he was a shoemaker.
