Dorothy Awbrey's grandfather was Henry Awbrey of Rappahannock and Essex Counties. He was a planter and a member of the House of Burgesses. There is an article about him in Virginia's Who's Who. He was born c. 1625 at Abercynrig, Llanfrynach, Wales, the son of Sir William Awbrey and Elizabeth Johnes. He died in 1694. Janet also claims that Dorothy is not the daughter of Richard Aubrey and Dorothy North (there was never a Dorothy Meador as daughter of Thomas Meador and his wife Sarah) Their daughter Dorothy married John Billsup. Dorothy Aubrey is the daughter of Richard (a nephew of Henry Aubrey) or she is the daughter of Thomas Aubrey the brother of Henry. Henry was her guardian after her father died or return to England.
